Slow Dance, 2004
oil on birch, 37 x 34 inches

This piece was painted as a response to my recovering from breast cancer & accompanying drug treatments. It is strongly influenced by the cultural attitudes expressed in the Mexican celebration of Los Dias de Muertos. In this frame of mind, death is not seen as the enemy but as one's most faithful and constant companion. In my painting, it is my tango partner in hopefully, a very slow dance.
