TONY EITHARONG

Art Collectors:
Chuck Gruber & Mary Jane Walker

graphite on paper, 56
x 37 inches (life-size)

$8,995.00 framed

price reduced $3,995.00

This exceptional portrait by Tony Eitharong signifies Gruber’s commitment to an artists work.  There are just a handful of collectors that provide this nature of support for an artist, and it is rare to find  individual like Chuck who recognized how important is was to cultivate creative talent in his own backyard.

Chuck Gruber moved to Tampa in the late 70’s and soon discovered the Ybor City enclave of artists living and working in Ybor cigar factories and storefront studios.  He began purchasing their work and did so, on an ongoing basis for next two decades.  Equally as important,  for the following fifteen years of his life, he collected Florida based artists.  In addition to Tony Eitharong  (he acquired ten serious works by Eitharong) he purchased numerous works by James Michaels, Russ Gustafson Hilton, and Josette Urso among many others.
