YVONNE PETKUS

I grew up in New Jersey, spent much of my early adult life in New York State and City then headed west to Seattle, Washington.  I was extremely fortunate to have studied with outstanding artists who include Ryan Loftus, Gary Trento, Norman Lundin, Hanneline Rogeberg and Denzil Hurley, among others.

I believe in 'making' as a means to further understanding or thought and strive to foster this in both of my roles, as professor and artist.  The questioning of perception and the study of the body motivate my work though I feel just as connected to Modernism as to Rembrandt and, actually, see little difference between the two in terms of the power of paint.
