ARTIST BIOGRAPHY |

I was born in Chicago in1973. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Columbia College Chicago and have recently relocated to Orange County California. I am starting my Master of fine arts program at California State University at Fullerton. Studying art in Chicago taught me about a tradition of painting that is ever evolving and is ready for a change. |

What I’ve seen in Southern California is Artists that believe paintings can speak with a fresh voice that is worth being heard. I have recently been working with a group of artists called the Santa Ana Seven, whose goal is to facilitate a connection between the ideas of artists and the audience who receives them. What I am trying to accomplish with my work is a connection between traditional techniques in painting and fresh conceptual ideas. A painting with concept and no technique is just a one-line joke, and a painting with technique and no concept is just a pretty picture.
