The mission of Nicolas Morosoff Institute is to serve as a catalyst for diverse cultural activities with the aim of sustaining and advancing an environment in which artistic activity can flourish. The Institute's primary purpose is to establish a platform on which artists can realize their works and projects, expand professional development, and enhance the opportunity for research learning and study. The Institute's activities and programs will involve both the public's exploration of aesthetic education, and the realization of those special opportunities that only artistic and cultural diversity can offer. These activities include lectures, workshops, performances, and special events resulting in the exchange of ideas between individuals of various disciplines and cultural backgrounds. |

NMI was established in 1995 in memory of Russian-emigre artists Nicolas Morosoff (1899-1994) and his wife Vera Maslennicova Morosoff (1899-1991). The Institute was founded to sponsor unique projects in the arts to both serve the public interest and promote greater cultural understanding. |
