Born in 1975 in Baghdad, Iraq, Ninos lived the first half of his life in Kuwait attending an English primary school. He traveled annually to London England and Chicago until his family finally settled in the suburbs of Chicago. Ninos received his MFA in 2003 from Illinois State University in Bloomington and his BFA in 1996 from Western Illinois University in Macomb. He was the first studio artist to be nominated and win the James L. Fisher Thesis Award for the College of Fine Arts at Illinois State University for his thesis “Transom.” 2007 will see his first major solo exhibition at the Liaoning Museum of Art in Shenyang, China. Ninos will also be a one of three artists a year to have a solo exhibit and lecture at Chicago’s Blackbird. He travels extensively throughout the United States to document and catalogue cityscapes for his paintings. He currently produces work in Chicago.
