ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is generated from a framework of ideas that have their beginnings rooted in nature and industry.  Through the use of material and subject matter I attempt to create a harmony between objects and notions that typically don’t share any common ground.  The linear quality of a tree limb, the delicate veins of a leaf or the shear physical presence of a brick building are aesthetic elements that interest me.  They drive my visual vocabulary of form and material.  Growth, boundaries, chance, and hope are the primary thoughts that guide my direction.  I attempt to create and hopefully leave a sense of these notions in my work.
