ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

COSME HERRERA

Cosme Herrera’s work essentially examines memory and communication through the way events occur throughout our life as time passes.  Most importantly the work explains the way he recalls those events as he ages.  Cosme’s main influences include Plato, Aristotle, Heidegger, Baudrillard, Jung, quantum physics and mechanics, theology, mythology, mysticism, Alfred Jensen, Kenneth Noland, Mernet Larsen, Spanish, Cuban and Mexican culture, Nintendo, MTV, and all genres of electronic music.

These influences have changed Cosme’s outlook on life and his art-making processes molding him into the artist he is today.  Herrera has traveled Cuba, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and the United States, and has received his BFA from the University of South Florida in Tampa.  Cosme’s work has been exhibited throughout the state of Florida and he has received multiple cash and merit awards and talent grants.
