|
Having eked out a living for a decade as a professional musician in a regional band, Jeffrey Haupt began attending community college. He had an epiphany in an art appreciation course and became an art major. He later earned a scholarship to attend the Cleveland Institute of Art. While obtaining his BFA there, Jeffrey was selected for a travel fellowship to live and work in Scotland. Jeffrey was one of eight artists selected out of the ninety-six graduating students to win a major travel scholarship. He used this award to study in Spain and Holland before returning to begin graduate work. Jeffrey received a full scholarship to Indiana University’s graduate painting program where he completed his MFA and was awarded the Lanham fellowship to study in Italy. Upon graduation, Jeffrey accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Art at Mississippi State University.
