ARTIST BIOGRAPHY |
NANCY HANDELMAN |
|
Nancy Handelman grew up in upstate New York and attended Mount Holyoke and Dartmouth colleges, with a degree in Aesthetics (a combination of studio art, art history, and philosophy) in 1972. She lived in New York City and its environs for the next 15 years, studying at the Art Students League with Richard Poisette-Dart. She moved to the Bay Area in 1990. Her work is third generation Abstract Expressionism; however, she ascribes the impact of the West Coast light and the continuous spring of Northern California to her more lyric articulation of that style.
