I was born in 1951 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. My father was a college art professor for 37 years and former graduate student of Grant Wood in the late 1940’s. After finishing my freshman year at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, I transferred to the University if Wisconsin-Milwaukee and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking in 1974. I then entered graduate school at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and received a Master of Fine Arts, with an emphasis in lithography in 1977. My professional career began as an Art Museum Preparator (1977–1980) and Art Museum Exhibits Designer (1980–1982) at the Krannert Art Museum, Champaign, Illinois. I later held these same titles in the service of the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois (1982-1987). My teaching career began as a Visiting Lecturer (1987-1988), then Assistant Professor (1988-1994), and I am currently an Associate Professor in the School of Art and Design at the University of Illinois. I teach foundation level design and 3D modeling classes, create art both two dimensionally and three dimensionally, am happily married, and continue to enjoy the diversity of my life.
