ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

DEB DAVIS




I received my MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in Photography and my Bachelor’s degree and a MS ED in Instructional Technology, Media Production from Northern Illinois University. I have been creating photographically based art for many years. I have shown both nationally and internationally and have been the recipient of various awards throughout my career, including: two International Faculty Development Awards, to Prague, Czech Republic, from USAC and the University of Toledo, and a Pace Eminent Scholar Award, Semester in Japan Program, from the University of West Florida.

I am currently an Associate Professor of New Media at the University of Toledo, Toledo, Ohio, where I teach both digital and traditional photographic processes, including: Time-Based Digital Media, Photographic Alternatives and Digital Interactive Media courses.

I am currently curating and writing grants for an exhibition and residency program featuring six contemporary Czech artists for fall of 2005 titled Cultural Domestication – Instinctual Desire.

Additionally, I have worked as a media consultant for the John G. Shedd Aquarium, Chicago and as a media instructor for NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center employees.
